Composer, People’s artist of Kazakstan and USSR, State prizewinner, professor. The daughter of A.Zhubanov, one of the founders of Kazak modern music. Finished Gnesins’ Moscow musical college, graduated from P.I.Chaikovski Moscow State conservatory, the composition class of professor Yu.Shaporin. G.Zhubanova was a remarkable teacher. Her apprentices - Ye.Serkebayev, S.Kibirova, T.Mukhamedjanov and others. As conservatory rector she promoted the forming of the national personnel - the musicians and musical experts, among them A.Musakhodjaeva, G.Murzabekova, G.Kadyrbekova, Zh.Aubakirova, T.Abdrashev and others found world fame. Owing to Zhubanova’s efforts the musicology school was created, they started to defend theses on the problems of folklore and composing creative work.
G.Zhubanova - composer of great creative gift, displaying her talent in many genres. Her music was of wide fame outside the country. She was a constantly searching artist, open for modern art influence and trying to open Kazak music to other cultures through her music. The following compositions were written by her: the symphonic poem «Geroicheskaya poema», the symphony «Zhiger», the operas «Enlik-Kebek», «Dvadtsat vosem», the ballet «Legenda o beloi ptitse», the cantatas, romances, variety music, music for theatre and cinema etc. All of them are united by the composer’s originality, including the harmony of the logical development of musical thinking, creative succession from the concrete to the abstract, from the vocal to the instrumental, the emotion, the national definition, the range, the epic breadth and the exciting dramatic effect of musical images.
