Singer (lyrico-coloratura soprano), People’s Artist of the USSR, USSR State prizewinner. Born in Alma-Ata. From 1925-1928 Baiseitova studied at the Elementary Teacher Training College, then at the musical and dramatic studio within Kazakh Drama Theatre. Baiseitova was one of the founders of Kazakh operatic art. For the first time on Kazakh stage she performed parts from the classic operas, such as - Butterfly (J.Puchini, «Chio-Chio-San»), Tatyana (Chaikovski, «Yevgeni Onegin») among others. Baiseitova had a bright stage talent. Her images made up the whole gallery of the contrary characters - Aiman in the musical comedy «Aiman- Sholpan» by M.Auezov and I.V.Kotsyk; Zhibek in «Kyz-Zhibek» by Ye.Brusilovsky and others. In 1980 the K. Baiseitova Republican Competition of Kazakh Folk Songs was founded and takes place once every four years.
